Today I am sharing a Christmas Greetings card for the Case This Sketch blog challenge. I am using the repeated stamped sentiment as a background, and then adding a focal element to the front of the card. I just adore the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper, so of course I wanted to use it again!
Here is the sentiment set and DSP that I paired together for this project.
Here is the sketch that was offered up by the Case This Sketch Blog. You can link back to their challenge through the graphic below. Which will allow you to see all the entries from others, plus the design team submissions as well. You never know where inspiration may strike!
I wanted to stay fairly true to the sketch outline. One change is I turned the sketch on it’s side to make a landscape card instead of a vertical card. I also wanted to keep to the two-tone of the patterned paper (Real Red and Very Vanilla) but then I decided it needed a bit of framing, so Basic Black got pulled into the mix as well.
I will take you through my design steps for this project, and also provide you with a quick product list of what was used.
Christmas Greetings Tutorial
So first I gather my stamp sets, ink, and adhesive. I will also be using the Stitched Shapes Framelits and Glimmer Enamel Dots from the Toile Tiding Suite of embellishments.
To start I added a 2 inch strip of Real Red cardstock to the side of my Very Vanilla card base. (8 x 5 1/4) Then with my Real Red ink, I stamped the greeting three times to fill the Very Vanilla area of my card front.
Next we will create our focal point. I start with a Basic Black panel, plus two DSP samples. I choose the hounds-tooth pattern as my frame, and the scenic paper as my image. First die cut the stitched shape oval from the center of the hounds-tooth paper. Next add the scenic DSP to the Basic Black cardstock. Then I added dimensionals round the backside of the oval frame and then adhere over the scenic panel.
Now we can put it all together. First the card base will be snailed to the Basic Black backer panel. Then add the focal point you created over the top to pull the sketch all together. For a finishing touch I added Glimmer Enamel Dots from the Toile Tidings suite for a little sparkle. I also stamped my envelope with the small tree image from the Merry Moose stamp set.
