Embrace Each Moment for CTS376
Here’s the card project I created to submit to the CASE this Sketch challenge. Most of the time I try and keep very close to the layout given. I might flip it on it’s side or upside down, but I keep it fairly true. But not this time! As it worked out, I used elements of the sketch to create the card instead. Remember CASE stands for Copy And Selectively Edit… so here we go!
Here is the offered sketch, by one of my favorite designers, Brian King. I do enjoy his card layouts. You can follow the link to the Case this Sketch Blog. Or follow this link and see the challenge 376, plus all the other wonder card creations submitted and shared.
Embrace Each Moment for CTS376 Project Details
For my project I wanted to us the Embrace Every Moment stamp set. It was just released in the new 2020 – 2021 annual catalog. At first I wanted to stamp and die cut the image. Then simply place the sentiment on the thin band across the bottom of the circle. (As shown in the sketch)
But too much got covered up! So instead I decided to move the circle element away from the sentiment. I die cut a circle from the center of a Highland Heather cardstock panel. Then embossed it with the Subtles embossing folder. I added to the front of my Whisper White cardbase.
Then I masked off the layer with another circle die. I wanted to keep the panel clean around the circle. I stamped the image through the die cut hole onto the Whisper White card base layer.
In the sketch offered the sentiment is positioned in the circle, and above the horizontal trim piece. When I decided to use the Embrace Each Moment sentiment. I also decided to die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly dies. But I wanted to keep the horizontal trim too!
So I decided to layer a larger Basic Black label from the Stitched So Sweetly Die with the sentiment one. I placed a scrap of Purple Posy cardstock between them, to create the horizontal trim. Layered them all up with dimensionals and positioned them in the lower right corner.
Tiny Flower Element
You can see in the sketch the flower element. Just a small embellishment. I decided to use hearts instead. Remember the circle I die cut from Highland Heather panel? Well no reason for it to go to waste. I die cut hearts with the Be Mine Stitched Frames.
I layers two of the hearts together with glue dots and also added a single rhinestone for a little sparkle.
