Splish Splash for Joy of Sets Blog Hop June 2020
So each month the Joy of Sets Facebook group hosts an International Blog Hop. I am so thrilled to get to play along with all these other wonderful paper crafters. This month’s theme is SPLISH-SPLASH so just perfect to get us all thinking and dreaming about the summer!
I am actually using two retired sets from my collection today. It really is wonderful to be part of a group where we craft and share our creations. Anything goes, so to speak!
Simply Summer Stamp Set for the Splish Splash Theme
Today I am using the Simply Summer stamp set. It is actually one of the very first sets I purchased nearly 20 years ago. Back when they were wood mounted! The sentiment comes from the retired Thoughtful Branches stamp set. I just love the curvy and flowing lines of it just seemed to fit the project.
On my blog, I often share video demonstrations of my project. And today’s is no exception. So you are invited to watch the demonstration and I will take you through all my card crafting steps. If you enjoy my posts, you are welcome to subscribe to my blog. When you do you will receive emails directly to your inbox when I share new posts. Be sure to subscribe on the home page of the website.
Stampin’ Show & Tell Video
Watercolor Wash with Clear Block
I used a watercolor technique were I inked the clear block and then spritz it with water. It gives it a dreamy feel for the water and horizon background. I wanted to create something bright and keep two just two color palettes – yellow and blue.
For the horizon and sun soaked sky…
For the Sea and Sailboat I used…
I spotlighted the sailboat image on the circle die cut and added ink to the ship and sails to add dimension. The photo on the left is the original from the video. The one on the right is after it was dry, and I decided to add additional ink to the sail to make it stand out a bit more.
Okay, well that’s it’s for me today. Of course your comments on my post are always invited and encouraged. I would love to know if I inspired you to try a new technique or pullout an older set from our collection to create with.
Now I will send you along to the next blog post in our International Hop. And all the other posters are listed below as well, just in case a link doesn’t work just the way it suppose to.
